Try something new

   

SEWING BEAUTIFUL GIFTS
Exciting new class.  Enrol early to join this class in making fabulous gifts limited only by your imagination.  Tutor will supply exquisite materials for you to choose from.  Samples of bags, folders, pillowcases, cushions, covers etc or do your own project with the help of the tutor.  You may need to supply lining for some of the fabrics (you can recycle old sheets for this or purchase from spotlight and some cotton.


   

LIGHT PAINTING PHOTOGRAPHY
This creative art form uses handheld lights to paint and/or draw in a scene while the shutter of a camera is left open.  The long exposure photography uses the flashes, streaks, colours, textures and trails of light to create and capture amazing images.  This is a wonderful way to engage in creative art using a camera.

BADMINTON BEGINNERS - INTERMEDIATE
Learn the basic skills required; stance, positioning, shuttle holding and connection, footwork and principles. You will learn offensive and defensive strategy. A great way to enjoy Badminton and get fit!


UNDERSTANDING ISLAM

The course fee has been waived for this course. If you'd like to make a donation on the first night of the course, your contribution will be forwarded to the victims of the 15 March Christchurch attack. For many of us, all we know about Islam is what we hear in the media. Here is your chance to learn more about this rich and old religion. Learn about the prophets of God, the holy book The Qur'an, women in Islam, the concept of life in Islam, the prohibited, science and Islam today.

SMALL ENGINE REPAIRS
Learn how to repair small engines including outboard motors, lawn mowers and motorbikes. Please bring a small engine to be repaired. Class will be practical. Note: In this class you can just focus on the engine(s) which most interest you. Class numbers limited.


MEDITATION AND MINDFULNESS COURSE
Meditation and mindfulness are both ways to find inner peace and to make the most of every moment.  They help you to stay centred and balanced, to improve your focus and feel more ‘in charge’ of yourself.  Often daily stresses can lead to rushing, making poor decisions, emotions coming up and ill health. 

BOLLYDANCE - BEGINNERS
Come along and learn Bollywood dance routine with music while you are getting active and fit.
Great way to burn calories, increasing stamina while you dance away.
Fun, enjoyable session, easy to follow routine, just for fun.

FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT CLASS FOR NON ATHLETES
Great for winding down, and relaxation, but also strengthening and body balancing. Suitable for all age groups, with less emphasis on intense stretching than yoga. This class is designed for couch potatoes, the athletically challenged, and people stuck behind desks all day using computers.

LANDSCAPE PAINTING WITH ACRYLICS
This programme is skills based, experiential and focused on the discipline of observation. We shift between 2D and 3D initially to anchor the programme in material reality: when we paint landscape we are engaging with actual landforms, not photographs of the land.

MOSAICS
Come, enjoy a fun and rewarding night out making something for your home or garden you'll be proud of. See students first projects at www.moZaics.co.nz You do not need to be "artistic" to make mosaics. You'll be shown Direct, Indirect and Reverse methods, which glues to use, different cutting techniques.

CAKE DECORATING
Learn how to cover and decorate a cake for that special occasion. You will be inspired by the ideas learned here; including piping, moulded blossoms, leaves, flower, drapes and bows. Limited only by your imagination. Materials cost extra.

INDIAN FOOD MADE EASY
Each week covers 7 dishes starting ranging from soup to dessert. You will learn how to cook all time favourites like tandoori chicken, butter chicken, rogan josh, roti, naan etc. Tutor is willing to include any of your favourite dish if not already in the course.


WOODWORK - BEGINNERS TO INTERMEDIATE
A hands-on practical class.  Work on your own project at your own pace under Paul’s guidance.  All equipment is supplied, however, bring your own materials.  No recycled timer can be used as this may damage school equipment.  Students who have not previously attended this class are required to start a week early for an introduction night to learn about the equipment and to discuss their projects with the tutor. 

COOKIE DECORATING
Learn new skills on how to decorate cookies for the holidays. We will cover the basics of cookie decorating using royal icing and take you through different techniques on how to make your cookies look great! Cover various themes, like Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas and make fabulous cookies for you and your loved ones.  Great for beginners as well as those who want to practice their skills.

 


GUITAR BEGINNERS
Great class if you have ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar. Learn how to play tunes through easy to read tablature. Master strumming, simple chords to well known songs including kiwi classics and others .E.g. Ten guitars, You are my sunshine, Pokarekareana, Jamaican farewell, Amazing Grace, and many more. Guitars available for use if required ($10 payable to hire a guitar).

PYTHON (PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE)

Let’s begin a new chapter of learning with most in-demand programming languages. A programming language is a formal language which comprises a set of instructions used to produce various kinds of output. Programming languages are used to create programs that implement specific algorithms. Basic computer skill is required.


DATABASE DEVELOPER (SQL DEVELOPER)

One step further to promote your career, business and education. A database is an organised collection of data. Database designers typically organise the data to model aspects of reality in a way that supports processes requiring information. Database administrators use specialised software to store and organise data. Basic computer skill is required. Please bring your own laptop to class


ITALIAN STAGE I

An oral language course (including an introduction to Italian lifestyle and customs), to give you the confidence and ability to converse freely in everyday situations. Tutor is a native Italian speaker. Come along to learn and have some fun.


AEROBIC/LATIN DANCE FITNESS

Fabulous new class on offer that is a fun and energetic fitness experience expressed through Latin type dance moves combined with standard aerobic, step moves.  Latin fitness is transforming a standard cardio work-out into a mix of cardio and dance. No pressure, learn at your own pace – but great fun guaranteed.


JAPANESE STAGE I

An intensive conversation-based course, giving you the ability to converse freely and confidently in everyday situations. A basic introduction to the culture will be included. Mitsuko is a native Japanese speaker with experience in adult teaching.


MANDARIN STAGE I

An introduction to the Mandarin Language. All essential skills will be covered with emphasis on conversation.


GERMAN STAGE I

Conversational German for true beginners. A mostly oral language course with some reading and writing to give you the ability to converse confidently in everyday situations and read signs, notices, adverts and similar short texts in everyday life.


FRENCH STAGE I

Bonsoir! French Beginners covers the basics of the language including vocabulary, grammar, conversation, and culture. You will leave equipped with a basic range of language skills and culture.


SPANISH STAGE I

This is an introductory level course, designed for students with little to no knowledge of the Spanish language. This is the first step for beginners in a safe and welcoming environment and suitable for those who wish to continue with Spanish language learning in the future.


TE REO MAORI STAGE I

Te Reo Maori Me Ona Tikanga This course introduces the structure of Maori language and society, customs, literature and songs. At the end of the course students will have a good understanding of Maori phrases, Marae protocol and some tribal lore. You will be able to have a conversation in Maori, count in Maori and know something of Maori society.
