This course is for all those who are “stumped” with meaningless words and unusual devices.  . What are all those other buttons on a keyboard? Is an upgrade and an update the same thing? And what is bluetooth and WiFi; which should I use? What is cloud computing? What if I do the wrong thing? No question is too basic.  We will cover different devices and how they can be synchronized to work together, how to share things with other people, how the internet works, and all that it offers to expand your possibilities for organizing, enjoying, creating, studying, and socially interacting.  No need for paper-based diaries and notepads any more as your devices do everything for you that writing on paper once used to.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

• identify the main parts of a computer
• plug one in and turn it on
• launch an application
• create and save a simple document
• launch and use a web browser
• identify a tablet device
• understand the difference between operating systems
• identify a smart phone and understand its uses and limitations
• understand cloud computing and synchronizing your device

Please bring your own laptop, tablet, and smartphone to use although we will also have computers available for use.
