We start off your new journey of learning te reo Māori with pronounciation and introduce karakia, and whakataukī and whakatauāki (Māori prayers and proverbs).
Each week we get a snapshot of something that is happening in Te Ao Māori currently with our Te Karere section i.e. Treaty Principles bill, Koroneihana.
We learn numbers, greetings, personal pronouns, and are introduced to basic active sentences (where the subject of the sentence performs the action described by the verb) i.e. I haere au ki te marae – I went to the marae.
Lastly we learn about the ‘a’ and ‘o’ categories before doing a foundational overview of the mihimihi process, including the use of one’s pepeha and/or whakapapa.
