SEWING BEGINNERS - TANGAROA COLLEGE

Have you always wanted to learn to sew, refresh your skills, or pick up new techniques? This beginner-friendly course will guide you through the basics, including threading and operating a sewing machine, measuring and cutting fabric, finishing seams, inserting zips, creating buttonholes, and more.

With these skills, you’ll be ready to tackle patterns and start your own projects, working at your own pace with guidance from our experienced tutor. Students supply their own materials (fabric, thread, patterns, etc.) as specified for each lesson.

Bring to your first class:

  • Fabric scissors

  • Measuring tape

  • Pins

If you do not have a sewing machine, please register below.
If you have your own machine, please email comed@ohs.school.nz to register.

The classroom opens at 5 pm for early arrivals, and you’re welcome to join any time before 6:15 pm. The class finishes at 8 pm.

Please note: Pattern making is not covered in this course.

Please note that this course takes place at Tangaroa College (Otara).
