UPHOLSTERY BEGINNERS SATURDAY SHORT COURSE

This is a short beginner course.

Want to repair and refresh small furniture pieces like chairs or footstools? This beginner-friendly upholstery workshop will give you the hands-on skills to bring new life to your favourite items. Led by an upholstery expert with over 35 years of international experience, you’ll gain confidence as you work on your own small project.

You’ll learn:

  • Webbing and foam preparation
  • Measuring, cutting, and pattern making for fabric
  • Material fixing and basic sewing techniques
  • Fundamental upholstery methods to transform your furniture

Please bring a small, portable furniture item to each class, such as a dining chair or small stool, that you can carry yourself. By the end of the course, you’ll have practical skills to continue restoring and creating at home.

We encourage you to bring the following equipment if you have it. Otherwise, we may be able to lend you some.

  • one pair scissors about 20 cm long
  • one tape measure
  • metal spring load
  • one pen ink
  • one pen felt
  • one flat blade screwdriver
  • small hammer
  • diagonal pliers
  • staple gun
  • craft knife
